Storytelling Retreat
giving voice to your story
Each one of us has a story to tell, a story like no other, an epic tale which charts a journey deep and wide through all kinds of terrain fraught with danger and rich with opportunity. It’s a story of sorrow and joy, great loss and generous gift, blessing and betrayal, a story which is threaded around the very contours of our hearts. Yet often our stories remain unspoken and the words that contain the fullness of who we are and where we have travelled remain unheard.
This Storytelling Retreat is a safe and loving space in which you can give voice to your story, providing an opportunity to bring it to life in your own words which can be heard, firstly and most importantly, by yourself and then by others. By putting narrative to the stories of our lives and giving intentional space to hear and to hold them, we are creating an invitation to reveal and notice what still feels raw, what weighs heavily on our shoulders, what is influencing the part of our story which has yet to be told. In telling our stories, putting them out in the open, we are creating a fresh space into which we can step with the support and encouragement of others to receive healing, freedom and acceptance.
At this Storytelling Retreat you will have the opportunity to tell your story, both past and present. Through spiritual practice, creativity, journalling, nature, lectio-divina, guided mediation and safe sharing circles, you will take a deep dive into the story of your life, in anticipation of insight, healing and rest emerging into the chapters of you story which have felt painful, traumatic and difficult. We will also discover how your story fits into the wider context of the story of others, and we will look with hope and expectancy at the story that is still waiting to unfold in your life.
